SMVC has 10 Ha land in Alentejo for our new sanctuary

The SMVC is extremely proud to announce its brand new location for rescued horse, donkeys and mules in the Alentejo! We have received 10 Ha of land from wonderful Swiss friends of the SMVC who have  beautiful vineyards and also care about rescued animals.

We have now taken Amêndoa, Morena, Maya and Purple Junho to our new sanctuary!
The heartwarming Arrival of Rescues by Algarve Horse Alarm! Meet Amêndoa, Morena, Maya, and Purple Junho!

We are thrilled to share some heartwarming news with you all! Algarve Horse Alarm has welcomed four incredible rescues into our care – Amêndoa, Morena, Maya, and Purple Junho , a blind mule. Each has its unique story and brings a special kind of magic to our equine family. Let's get to know them better!

We have bought 4 XL round tents for all the horses and mules. They have shade snd can lie down and sleep or rest in these wonderful new tents.

Amêndoa: Despite being blind, Amêndoa shines brightly with her kind and gentle nature. Her resilience and unwavering spirit inspire us every day.
Morena: Amendoa’s friend and helper: she makes sure that she never leaves her side and always shows her the way.
Maya: a truly magical old girl, is the leader of the 4 and she makes sure the group is always together
Purple Junho: our beautiful and heart warming mule. She is still  traumatised by what she experienced from gypsies and is still quite shy, but is gaining the trust of our Argentinian helper, who is a valued employee. He cares for  the 4 horses there morning and night time and is highly experienced horse man. We are lucky to have him. Thank you Oscar!

The future is very bright with our new sanctuary and we again want to thank Erika and Tom for their generosity and trust in the SMVC. We shall be bringing more rescues up there and shall keep you posted with photos of our 4 and many more as they come to us.
