Maya and Pura Vida June 2024
With a heavy heavy heart and profound sadness we had to let two of our rescues go.
Maya enjoyed a truly special two years with us. She was over 32 years old and her body became very weak and there were days were she couldn’t get up anymore. We gave her anti inflammatory medication and she has been getting the best food, minerals supplements and loving care but the time has come were Maya is now over the rainbow in horse heaven. We are incredibly proud to have given her two safe and loving last years. You were truly a grand dame of elegance and gracefulness. Your kind and gentle soul will be missed and we carry you in loving memory dearest Maya.
With utter sadness and deep deep sorrow we had to let Pura Vida go over the rainbow. She was such a brave and courageous soul. Her will to live and was one of a kind. She fought so hard every day that she was with Algarve Horse Alarm and we supported Femke and Pura Vida for the weeks she was there. Unfortunately her back leg swelling became much much worse and the damage was too great. We didn’t want her suffering to continue and with such sadness we let her go to heaven. She is now free of all pain and we are truly proud to have given her a few weeks of love, care, affection and wonderful food which she adored. Our memories of Pura Vida will live on and we lit a candle balloon that flew high in to the sky as we watched it disappear after 10 minutes and know she is without any pain. Pura Vida can now look down to us and protect us with her loving soul.
